Morwell emergency management forum, Australia, Tuesday, 18. June 2019

Bushfire, flood, storm and more…your clients, your communities, your stories.
Victoria is no stranger to emergencies and disasters. From bushfire to flood to major accidents, almost every region in Victoria has experienced emergency events that have impacted its people, families and communities.
Since 2009 there has been a range of changes introduced to the way Victoria prepares, responds and recovers from emergencies. To help understand if these changes are bringing better outcomes for all Victorians, the Inspector-General of Emergency Management (IGEM) is undertaking a major review of the reform of Victoria’s emergency management arrangements over the past 10 years.
Communities in the South Gippsland, Baw Baw, Latrobe, Wellington and other surrounding local government areas have been subject to a range of emergency events in recent years including flood, bushfire, mine fires and other events. VCOSS will be providing a submission to the review and this consultation forum will provide community and social service organisations the opportunity to tell us about the experiences of emergency events that have impacted their clients and communities.
VCOSS acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land where this event will take place, and pays respect to elders past, present and emerging.
